Thank you to all those who took the time to complete the club’s training survey earlier this month. We received some invaluable feedback we which will help us ensure we can provide a club which meets the needs of our membership base.
I can’t quite believe it’s already the club’s annual ‘Butty Run’ this Sunday. This event was setup in memory of the late Alan “Big Al” Allsop and has evolved to become one of the best events on our club calendar. You can come along to run, to walk or just to eat breakfast- and everyone is welcome!
The Butty Run really represents everything the club is all about; it’s a good kick off the festive season and a great way to remember absent friends. I hope to see as many of you as possible this Sunday.
The Club’s annual Butty Run is this Sunday and we hope to see you all there!
This annual social run was set up by Titan Triathlon Club in memory of Big Al, but is open to all and is a great way to kick off the festive season whilst remembering absent friends.
There will be a couple of steady pace groups for a 10k (ish) loop of the park, and a walking group who will do a shorter loop.
After the run we will be having breakfast, a cuppa and a catch up in the bistro.
This event is open to everyone including dogs, kids, friends, family, members and non-members – and it is very flexible so you can turn up just to run or just to meet in the café at the end!
All we ask is that you wear something green in memory of Big Al 💚 – The Jolly Green Giant or multicoloured rainbow for Ned 🌈
We will also be collecting donations on the day for St Giles Hospice – suggested donation of £2 or more.
Club Training Survey
We appreciate everyone who took the time to complete the club’s training survey issued earlier this month. Well over 60% of active club members responded and we are currently in the process of breaking down the results and trying to align club sessions with the feedback.
A few highlights from the survey
- Club members rate themselves best in Running, with nearly 50% rating their ability above average.
- Members rated their Transition skills the lowest across all disciplines, with 35% of respondents considering their ability level below the average.
- 10k and Half Marathons looks to be the most popular events people are planning for in 2020.
- Over 60% of respondents are planning to tackle a 70.3/ Half Distance Triathlon next year.
- Our existing pool swimming block remain very popular and there looks to be demand for us to run club open water sessions next year (when it’s a bit warmer!)
- Members want to see the club introduce more social events, as well as regular bike and run sessions for all abilities.
- Family and work commitments were not surprisingly the biggest blockers to members attending training sessions, with travel time to get to sessions being another big factor.
We are always open to any feedback members have on what they want to see from the club, so if you have any suggestions please get in touch!
Behind the scenes we are also in the process of migrating to British Triathlon’s new club management system, Club Spark. This new system should make it easier for us to administer our membership database, securely share important info with coaches and allow members easier access to the training calendar. Expect to see some more updates on this over the coming months.
A reminder to all those coming to the Christmas Party, we need final payments and meal choices ASAP. Please confirm via eventbrite if you haven’t already done so.
We will be setting up a Facebook Group for those attending in the next couple of days to share plans, photos etc – keep an eye out for your invite.
Thanks to all those who supported Titan Triathlon Club’s volunteering takeover at Kingsbury Water parkrun it was a great success!
It was most peoples first time volunteering, but all the roles were really easy to learn. It was fun to do something different together as a club and give something back to the local parkrun. We will look to do this again as a club in the New Year.
If you have any suggestions for other local community events the club can get involved in please let us know.
We are nearing the end of 2019 and preparing to take the final tally of Titan Championship points. If you have done any racing over the last couple of months and haven’t yet given us your results please post details in the WhatsApp or Facebook Groups or message Ryan directly to ensure your races are counted!
